Frequently asked questions

Isn't a black rectangle over the text enough?

No. If the rectangle only covers the text, the text is still inside the file: it can be selected, copied and extracted. Real redaction removes the content and flattens the document. That is why the agent returns a re-rendered PDF, with the redacted regions burned into the file.

Is anonymizing the same as pseudonymizing?

No, and GDPR cares about the difference. Pseudonymizing replaces data with an alias that can be reversed with additional information, so the document still contains personal data.
